Kazakh Minister of Labor congratulates 102-year-old veteran on 80th anniversary of Great Victory

On the eve of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan Svetlana Zhakupova congratulated the veteran of the Great Patriotic War Rzagul Baikeshev on the anniversary of the Victory, wished him good health, warmth and longevity, and also presented him with a gift basket, El.kz reports citing the press service of the ministry.
For courage and heroism shown during the war, he was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War, the medal of Marshal G.K. Zhukov and anniversary medals.
- During the war years, more than 1 million 200 thousand Kazakhstanis were called up to the front, more than 20 rifle divisions and other military formations were formed. Hundreds of thousands of Kazakhstanis were awarded orders and medals for their military merits, about 500 of them were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. Four Kazakhstanis became twice Heroes. 110 people were awarded the Order of Glory of three degrees, the ministry said.
Currently, 105 participants of the Great Patriotic War and 40,707 citizens of other categories who contributed to the Victory live in Kazakhstan.
As part of the state policy to support the older generation, regardless of other social benefits, 19 categories of citizens, including participants and disabled veterans of the Great Patriotic War, home front workers, rehabilitated persons and others, are provided with a special state benefit.
In honor of the 80th anniversary of the Victory, local executive bodies provided all veterans of the Great Patriotic War with one-time social assistance in the amount of 5 million tenge, other categories of citizens who contributed to the Victory in the Second World War - in the amount of 50 to 200 thousand tenge, the report says.
