The authorities in Karaganda region have instructed three cities to develop digital twins and urban development plans. This was announced by the regional akimat following meetings with members of the Kurultai, El.kz reports citing the Akimat of Karaganda region.

Regional Akim Yermaganbet Bulekpayev has instructed the cities of Karaganda, Temirtau and Balkhash to develop digital models and urban development plans. These tasks will be incorporated into the regional action plan for implementing the President’s Address, with specific deadlines and designated officials responsible for their implementation.

Digital twin technology makes it possible to model urban infrastructure and assess the potential impact of policy and management decisions. The akimat’s statement did not specify the timelines for developing the digital models or their technical requirements.

The instructions were issued during a visit by Kurultai members to Karaganda region. Askhat Aimagambetov, Vadim Basin, Unzila Shapaq, Alexander Danilov and Aisulu Suleimenova are meeting with residents and business representatives to discuss the development of industry, energy and social infrastructure.

The participants also discussed the People’s Construction initiative, which is expected to receive approximately 6.5 trillion tenge in funding by the end of 2029. The region expects that the implementation of infrastructure projects will generate contracts for local businesses and create new jobs.

Kurultai member Askhat Aimagambetov noted that the Kurultai had already prepared several draft laws aimed at implementing the President’s Address. The areas under discussion included targeted social assistance, the protection of teachers’ rights and the development of healthcare.

“The main measure of our performance is not the number of meetings held or documents prepared, but tangible improvements: sustainable businesses, reliable infrastructure, quality jobs and accessible public services,” Yermaganbet Bulekpayev emphasised.

The members of the Kurultai have also scheduled visits to businesses and universities in Karaganda, as well as trips to Temirtau and Saran.
