Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, who has 26 million followers, published a post about Dastan Satpayev. His message went viral on social media, gathering tens of thousands of reactions, El.kz reports.

The journalist called Satpayev “the first player in Kazakhstan’s history to score in a Champions League match.”

This transfer became part of the London club’s strategy to scout talent around the world. “Chelsea continues to build a collection of young, promising football players,” Romano noted.

Fan reactions

Twitter users expressed excitement about the transfer.

“Delap will have to step up his game, because this guy is on fire”, one of the  users wrote.

Another user compared Satpayev to Sergio Agüero: “Little Agüero is still cooking goals.” Many fans pointed out the historical significance of the transfer.

“Chelsea paid 4 million euros for a guy who’s still playing in Kazakhstan, and now he’s scoring in the Champions League at 17. American clubs would never take such a risk on a player from this part of the world. Europe keeps finding gems we completely overlook,” one user wrote.

The commenter highlighted Chelsea scouts’ boldness and the underestimation of talent from Central Asia.

“Chelsea signs every emerging talent as if they’re speedrunning the regen mode in Football Manager.”

The user humorously compared the club’s transfer policy to the popular football video game.

Fans admired the uniqueness of the young player’s achievement.

“Chelsea is scouting continents like they’re collecting Infinity Stones,” another fan noted — a popular Marvel reference emphasizing the club’s global approach to transfers.

“Sir Fabrizio, this isn’t officially his first UCL goal. It’s his first in the group stage, though. He scored in the qualifying rounds, which are counted separately,” a user clarified, adding an important statistical detail.

Another fan predicted the continuation of the club’s trend of gathering young talents:

“All the wonderkids are going to Chelsea.”

Fans compared Satpayev to well-known stars and predicted a great future for him.
