In the period from January to September of this year, the volume of investments in fixed assets in the field of healthcare and social services reached 209.4 billion tenge, which is 50.7% more than in the same period last year. The volume index (IFO) in this area amounted to 144.6%, reflecting the real increase in investment, El.kz reports with reference to Finprom.

As a context, for the same period in 2022, investments in this sector amounted to 138.9 billion tenge, which was 15.6% more than in January-September 2021.

Yet, despite a significant increase in investment in healthcare, many challenges remain in the sector. The lack of necessary equipment has a direct impact on the health of the population, which was evident during the recent blackout in Astana. A continuous supply of electricity is vital for the functioning of medical equipment, and its absence can make it impossible to save the lives of patients.

Therefore, equipping hospitals with backup power sources is a necessary condition, said Zhanna Asanova, a member of the Senate of the Parliament.

In the first nine months of this year, 42.7% of investments were financed from own funds, which amounted to 89.5 billion tenge. This is an increase of 85.1% compared to last year. The share of investments from local budgets amounted to 27.3%, equal to 57.1 billion tenge, which shows an increase of 20.9% compared to the previous year. Investments financed from the republican budget increased by 64.5% and reached 52.2 billion tenge. At the same time, investments secured by bank loans slightly increased by 1%, reaching 4.9 billion tenge. However, investments financed by non-bank borrowed funds decreased by 15.2% to 5.7 billion tenge.

In the first nine months of this year, the largest volume of investments in the sector was directed to Astana, where the amount of investments amounted to 59.1 billion tenge, which is 69.5% more compared to last year. Large investments were also made in Almaty (39.4 billion tenge), Turkestan (16.9 billion tenge) and East Kazakhstan (16.7 billion tenge) regions. On the other hand, the lowest levels of investment were recorded in Mangistau (1.4 billion tenge), Ulytau (1.5 billion tenge) and Almaty (1.6 billion tenge) regions.

The highest annual increase in the volume of investments was observed in the Atyrau region, where they increased 10 times and reached 3.3 billion tenge. At the same time, the largest decrease in investments occurred in the Mangistau region, where they decreased by 81% and amounted to 1.4 billion tenge.
