Per capita monetary income of the population of Kazakhstan reached 410,088 tenge in the second quarter of 2026, El.kz reports citing the Bureau of National Statistics.
Compared with the same period last year, the income of Kazakhstan’s population increased by 14%. This represents nominal growth and does not account for inflation. The indicator is calculated for the entire quarter rather than for a single month.
Employment income remains the primary source of household income, accounting for 72.7% of total monetary income. This category includes wages and income from self-employment.
A further 24.2% comes from social transfers, including pensions, benefits, targeted social assistance, and scholarships. The remaining share comprises financial assistance from relatives, alimony payments, property income, and other sources of income.
Per capita monetary expenditure amounted to 358,584 tenge for the quarter. The statistics cover expenditure on goods and services, taxes, loan and debt repayments, and other payments.
Consumer expenditure accounted for 90.7% of total household monetary expenditure. Food products remained the largest expenditure category.
Kazakhstan’s population allocated 50.5% of monetary expenditure to food products. The remainder of consumer expenditure was accounted for by non-food goods and paid services.
The Bureau of National Statistics clarified that the methodology for recording expenditure was revised at the beginning of the year. Under the new methodology, expenditure on meals outside the home is classified as paid services, whereas previously it was included in expenditure on food products.
The data are based on a sample survey of household budgets covering 12,000 households. The next publication of statistics on household income and expenditure is scheduled for December.
