ILYIN Iron Cup 2022 started in Astana

The first demonstration tournament was held in the capital's athletics sports complex Qazaqstan, El.kz reports.

The opening ceremony of the tournament was attended by the Speaker of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbayev. Speaking to the participants and guests of the tournament, Maulen Ashimbayev stressed that the tasks for the development of mass sports were outlined by the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

"The President of the country repeatedly emphasizes that it is necessary to pay the most serious attention to the health of the nation. It is important to give priority to mass sports, physical education and, of course, children's sports. In the election program of Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich Tokayev, the task is set to make available to every schoolchild free attendance at sports sections," Maulen Ashimbayev said.

Olympic champions Serik Sapiyev, Olga Rypakova and others also performed at the opening ceremony of the tournament.

It should be noted that about 200 professional athletes from Kazakhstan and neighboring countries take part in the tournament. They will compete for the right to be called the best in such disciplines as: weightlifting, powerlifting, arm wrestling, CrossFit, mas-wrestling, kettlebell sports, armlifting, workout and strongman.
