The story of 25-year-old Aruzhan Tolepova is an inspiring example of how a passion for calligraphy, which began on Instagram, led to collaborations with major brands. For Aruzhan, calligraphy is not just an art — it’s a way to bring warmth and beauty into the world, El.kz reports

How it all began

Aruzhan grew up in a family where art was not a tradition. “There were no calligraphers or creative people in our family. It seems I’m the first one. Although my dad always had beautiful handwriting,” she smiles.

Aruzhan is an IT specialist. She graduated from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University with a degree in Information Technology.

“I learned about calligraphy as an art form through Instagram. At first, it was just a hobby, but then I started learning,” says Aruzhan.

Five years of practicing calligraphy have made Aruzhan a true artist, but she believes her journey is only beginning.

“I don’t think I’ve reached my peak or fully developed as a master — because this art has no limits. Over time, and with more experience, the handwriting becomes even more beautiful,” she shares.

This art requires patience, and Aruzhan is in love with the process.

Handwritten letter orders are especially meaningful to Aruzhan.

“Guys often ask me to write letters to confess their love. There were even times when someone ordered a farewell letter, but after reading it, the couple got back together,” says Aruzhan. These moments show how her calligraphy truly touches people’s lives and can even change them.

Collaborations with major brands

Aruzhan’s calligraphy career began thanks to Instagram.

«All the brands found me through the platform,” she shares.

Among them was French House.

«They were the first to believe in me as a calligrapher, and we still work together,” she recalls warmly.

Her talent has also caught the attention of global brands such as BMW, for whom she created elegant calligraphic pieces for events and advertising campaigns.

The most challenging project

One of the most difficult projects she worked on was a 100×70 cm artwork.

“It was my first time working on such a large format. I had to rely on all my focus and patience,” Aruzhan shares.

Teaching and mission

Aruzhan not only creates but also teaches. Her calligraphy courses attract women who, like her, are drawn to beauty.

“I love seeing how my students open up through creativity. Calligraphy helps them develop qualities like patience and inner calm,” she explains.

Their progress inspires her: “When I see their joy and growth, I get sparked with new ideas myself.”

To Aruzhan, calligraphy is a rare art that preserves warmth in a digital world.

“As the world rapidly becomes digital and almost everything is created electronically, calligraphy remains something truly alive, warm, and soulful,” she says.

She believes the value of calligraphy will only grow.

Dreams for the future

Aruzhan dreams of working with global

brands like Dior and Louis Vuitton and participating in international calligraphy competitions.

“I believe calligraphy can become a part of the luxury and aesthetic that these brands represent,” she says.
