Horizons of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Latvia are expanding
At the invitation of the Liepaja City Council and the Liepaja Free Port Administration, a working trip of the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Latvia Timur Primbetov took place in Liepaja.
The Kazakh diplomat met with Chairman of the Liepaja City Council Gunars Ansins, Chairman of the Board of the Liepaja Free Port, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Liepaja Special Economic Zone Uldis Sesks, El.kz cites MFA.
During the meeting in the City Hall, a thorough exchange of views took place on the issues of establishing cooperation in the economic, cultural, humanitarian, educational and scientific fields, medicine and tourism.
Primbetov informed the interlocutors about the democratic reforms being carried out in Kazakhstan under the leadership of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, large-scale political and socio-economic modernization. The referendum held in June this year on the issue of amendments and additions to the Constitution of the country was an important step in the implementation of these requirements.
The possibility of increasing the volume and uninterrupted transit of Kazakhstani cargo was discussed with the port management. The parties noted that our countries have significant potential and competitive advantages in the development of transit and transport cooperation, which should become a growth point for mutual trade and investment. Primbetov stressed that Kazakh companies are interested in using the railway and maritime infrastructure of Latvia to transport domestic export products to world markets, as well as import and transit cargo.
A separate meeting was also held with the Chairman of the Board of the Association of Stevedoring Organizations of Latvia, Aris Ozolins, and the heads of large stevedoring companies “Terrabalt” and “Ekers” operating in the port of Liepaja.
The Ambassador of Kazakhstan invited Latvian colleagues to take part in the 25th Kazakhstan International Exhibition "Transport and Logistics", which will be held from September 20 to 22, 2022 in Almaty.
