Head of State receives Speaker of National Assembly of Turkey Numan Kurtulmus
The meeting discussed the issues of further strengthening the expanded strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and Turkey,El.kz reports.
The President highly appreciated the potential of parliamentary diplomacy and noted that the visit of the Chairman of the National Assembly of Turkey to Kazakhstan is an important event.
"Today's meeting is taking place on the eve of the 30th anniversary of the Agreement on Friendship and Cooperation and has a symbolic meaning. The dialogue between our countries is developing very fruitfully.
Turkey is one of the five largest trading partners and one of the ten main investors in Kazakhstan. Last year, bilateral trade reached $6 billion. I am convinced that in the future mutual trade turnover will reach $10 billion," the President said.
"Kazakhstan is the land of our ancestors, the homeland of Khoja Ahmed Yassawi, a spiritual mentor who unites the entire Turkic world. Tomorrow in Turkestan we will visit sacred places and hold a conference at the International Kazakh-Turkish University named after Khoja Ahmed Yassawi.
Under your leadership, Kazakhstan is entering a new stage of development. Effective political, economic and social reforms are being carried out. I am sure that all this will have a positive impact on the prosperity of your country. I am convinced that cooperation between Turkey and Kazakhstan will continue to strengthen. Our countries have great potential for expanding ties in the fields of trade, technology, industry, logistics, energy and agriculture," said the Chairman of the National Assembly of Turkey.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Numan Kurtulmus exchanged views on deepening cooperation between the member countries of the Organization of Turkic States, as well as interaction within the framework of international organizations. The schedule of upcoming high-level meetings was considered.
The Head of State expressed confidence that Turkish athletes will take an active part in the 5th World Nomad Games, which will be held in Astana in September this year.
