The Head of State received Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek, El.kz reports citing Akorda.
During the meeting, the President of Kazakhstan was presented with a number of initiatives and projects aimed at developing the system of higher education and science.
As the minister noted, today 25 branches of foreign universities have been opened in Kazakhstan. This allows Kazakhstan to position as an educational and scientific hub of the region. Agreements have been reached with foreign partners on the transformation of regional state universities into research universities with international standards of education.
This year, the introduction of new tools of financial support for students has begun: the unified voluntary saving system Keleshek, National Fund for Children, preferential educational loans and differentiated grants. These measures are aimed at ensuring access to higher education for all segments of the population.
The Minister reported on the implementation of the President's instructions on the development of artificial intelligence. To date, over 2,000 students are trained in artificial intelligence in 15 educational programs in 8 universities. In order to develop human resources for the digital economy, cooperation has been established with such transnational companies as Google, Nvidia, Coursera, 01 Edu System and Huawei. Within the framework of the Bolashak program, it is planned to allocate 100 scholarships annually for the training of specialists
In conclusion, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev gave a number of instructions on the development of the infrastructure of higher education and science, including the construction of dormitories.
