Head of State receives Chairman of Board of JSC NC “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy”
The Head of State held a meeting with Nurlan Sauranbayev, Chairman of the Board of JSC NC “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy”, at which the main achievements and plans of the national railway company were discussed, El.kz reports.
According to Akorda, during the meeting, Sauranbayev reported on a significant increase in KTZ's production indicators over the past three years. In 2023, the company's cargo turnover increased by 7%, reaching 270 billion tonne-kilometers, and the volume of transit traffic increased by 18% and exceeded 27 million tons. This led to an increase in the company's revenue by 29.3%, amounting to 1.9 trillion tenge, and net profit in the amount of 154 billion tenge, which is four times more than in the previous year.
Information was also provided on the implementation of major infrastructure projects, including the Dostyk-Moyinty railway line and the bypass line around the Almaty station. At the moment, more than 350 km of tracks have been laid, which will increase the capacity of interstate junction points.
Particular attention was paid to the construction of a cargo terminal in the dry port of the city of Xi'an in China, which will ensure a stable cargo flow and open access to new markets for Kazakh exporters.
In addition, work is underway on a Smart Railway project with Huawei, Wabtec and PSA aimed at increasing capacity, optimizing fuel consumption and improving the safety of train traffic.
The Head of State stressed the importance of these investment projects for the development of Kazakhstan's transport and transit potential.
