Head of State meets with SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming
The interlocutors exchanged views on issues of further improving the work of the SCO. The President noted that Kazakhstan attaches exceptional importance to the upcoming Astana summit of the SCO, which will be devoted to the topic "Strengthening multilateral dialogue - striving for sustainable peace and development,"El.kz reports with reference to the press service of Akorda.
"I think we should work closely together, because the Astana summit is extremely important, given the current geopolitical situation. The whole world will be watching the course of the summit, its decisions and negotiations. As I understand it, all the heads of the Organization's member states intend to take part in this summit. As the host country, Kazakhstan will do everything possible to make the summit a success, the President said.
Zhang Ming noted Kazakhstan's significant contribution to the development of the Organization's potential.
"I highly appreciate the great efforts of Kazakhstan as the presiding country, as well as the special attention that you, Your Excellency, pay to improving the activities of the SCO. We expect the Astana summit to be very successful," the Secretary General said.
As the Head of State emphasized, our country considers the SCO as an effective mechanism for stimulating the processes of regional security, trade and economic cooperation and cultural and humanitarian exchanges. The leader of Kazakhstan also drew attention to the importance of thorough work on the content of the final documents of the summit, which should take into account the views and positions of all member states of the Organization.
