Head of State holds Security Council Meeting on Cybersecurity

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev chaired a meeting of the Security Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan focused on ensuring cybersecurity and safeguarding the digital environment for citizens, El.kz cites Aqorda.
The Head of State recalled that in his Address to the Nation he set the task of turn Kazakhstan into a fully-fledged digital nation. Achieving this goal requires comprehensive measures, including in the field of cybersecurity.
During the meeting, issues related to modern cyber threats and methods of countering them, the protection of critical information infrastructure, the development of the cybersecurity industry, and the improvement of the personnel training system were discussed.
The Head of State emphasized the particular importance of combating cybercrime, including cyber fraud, as well as strengthening the competencies of government agencies involved in investigating such crimes.
In addition, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev identified as priority tasks the protection of citizens’ personal data and tougher accountability for data leaks.
Kazakh leader stressed the need to step up preventive efforts among the population to widely explain the principles of safe and responsible behavior in the digital environment.
Following the meeting, the President instructed to take measures aimed at reducing strategic risks and addressing systemic cybersecurity issues.
