Head of State holds meeting of Security Council of country
President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting of the country's Security Council. The main topic of discussion was strategic risks and opportunities in the field of transport and logistics potential of Kazakhstan, El.kz reports with reference to Akorda.
At the meeting, the heads of government agencies and national companies presented reports on progress in solving systemic problems in key areas of the transport industry, including rail, road, sea, air transportation and pipeline transport.
President Tokayev stressed the importance of developing transit cargo transportation, especially through the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor, as well as the need to expand transport opportunities for the export of Kazakh products. He pointed out the need to eliminate infrastructure constraints and other barriers, improve the quality of transport and logistics services and optimize the tariff setting system.
Tokayev also focused on synchronizing the development of industry, exports and the country's transit potential, introducing modern standards for infrastructure construction and creating a multiplier effect for the economy from the transport and logistics industry.
At the end of the meeting, the President put forward a number of specific tasks and instructions for the Government aimed at further development and improvement of the transport industry in Kazakhstan.
