President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev flew over the territory of Kyzylzhar district, surroundings of Petropavlovsk and Sergeevskoye reservoir, El.kz cites Akorda.
Governor of the region Gauez Nurmukhambetov reported to the President that flood waves run through Kyzylzhar, Yessil, Shal Akyn districts and Petropavlovsk city.
A state of emergency has been declared in six districts. To date, more than 2,000 residential buildings have been flooded, 10,345 people were evacuated.
A total of 5,270 people and 906 vehicles are involved in flood control measures. Work is underway to restore the life-supporting infrastructure. A commission has been set up to assess and compensate for material damage to victims of the natural disaster
