Head of Kazakh Government meets with President of Uzbekistan in Tashkent
Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov arrived in Uzbekistan to participate in the 16th summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), El.kz reports.
On the eve of this significant event, PM Smailov met with the President of the country Shavkat Mirziyoyev in the capital of Uzbekistan. The Prime Minister conveyed warm greetings from the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, expressing confidence that bilateral relations between the two countries are an example of strategic partnership supported by trust and mutual understanding.
Alikhan Smailov stressed that the implementation of the agreements reached at the highest level is under the continuous control of both governments. He emphasized the importance of creating a strong and sustainable economic platform for bilateral cooperation.

"Uzbekistan occupies the position of one of the main trading partners of Kazakhstan, with a share of about 70% of all trade in Central Asia. Last year was marked by a 30% increase in trade turnover, which exceeded $5 billion for the first time, and our goal is to bring this figure to $10 billion," the Prime Minister said.
In his turn, Mr. Mirziyoyev confirmed that strategic plans for bilateral cooperation are being implemented consistently, covering trade, transport and water sectors.

“We do not see any unresolved issues, and thanks to the projects agreed with the President of Kazakhstan, we are confident in reaching new heights," the President of Uzbekistan said.
Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan continue to demonstrate their readiness to expand cooperation, which will contribute to strengthening bilateral ties and developing regional integration.
