From August 22, 2024 the thematic fund exhibition «Measuring the time» of clocks of the museum collections of the Presidential Center of the President’s Affairs Administration  began its work, El.kz cites the press service of Presidential Center.

As a result of scientific systematization of the stock work on the subject «Watches» at the exhibition presented 24 samples of exhibits, different in manufacturing, design etc.

At the exhibition, visitors can see models of wall, fireplace and table clocks. It is worth noting that the items in the collection are made of natural materials and semi-precious stones.

They were presented as diplomatic gifts by Heads of foreign states, Heads of foreign government delegations, international organizations, leaders of domestic and foreign companies, and representatives of the arts community. The clock is a device for determining the current time of day and measuring the duration of time intervals in units less than one day.

Ancient Egypt was the first to have a time system in the world and used watches. In 1500 BC was invented the sundial, which determined time by the movement of the sun. Since then, the direction of rotation of the clock has not changed: from left to right. Archaeologists have found 13 types of sundials around the world.

In the next stage of development, humanity has moved to the hourglass. Today their field of application is realized only in the medical sphere.

The first wristwatch was manufactured in 1812 in the Kingdom of Naples. Now smart watches are produced by a microcomputer, they can not only show the time, but also accurately determine blood pressure, pulse and play music.

By size and portability watches are divided into: pocket watch; wrist watch; carriage watch; table clock; wall clock; fireplace clock; bedside clock; smart watch; tower clock (chilled).

According to the measurement mechanism, watches are divided into: sundials; fire clocks; sand clocks; water clocks; mechanical clocks; camembert clocks; quartz clocks; electronic clocks; atomic clocks.

The most accurate clocks in the world are atomic clocks. According to experts, such a clock can be wrong only by one second in a million years. The atomic clock was designed by scientists of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the University of Colorado (USA). Time is measured in them by the vibration of the cesium atom.

The clock not only records time, but also reflects it, represents a certain era. Today, watches are not only instruments of time, but also works of decorative and applied art.

The exhibition will last until 22 September 2024.
