On August, 27 the Yerkegali Rakhmadiyev Grand Concert Hall of the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory in Almaty hosted the concert “From Vienna to Buenos Aires”, bringing together masterpieces of Viennese classical music and Argentine tango.
The highlight of the evening was a performance by Kazakh violinist Yerassyl Khamit, a member of the ORF Radio-Symphonieorchester Wien (Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra). He performed Ludwig van Beethoven’s Violin Concerto with orchestra. His outstanding musicianship, expressiveness, and profound understanding of the musical material were warmly received by the audience.
The participation of Yerassyl Khamit’s parents in the chamber orchestra was of particular significance. The musicians took to the same stage with their son, symbolically continuing the family’s musical tradition and highlighting the special bond between generations in the arts.
“It is a great honour for me to perform here, in my historical homeland, where my ancestors, including my grandfather, lived and worked. I feel a special connection to this land. This concert hall is wonderful, and the audience gave us a very warm reception. Moments like these are an incredible source of inspiration,” Yerassyl Khamit said.
The second half of the concert featured Astor Piazzolla’s renowned cycle The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires. The work’s vibrant energy created a distinctive atmosphere and provided a compelling continuation of the classical programme.
The Chamber Orchestra demonstrated a high level of professionalism and ensemble performance, engaging with the soloist and bringing out the distinctive characteristics of works representing different eras and musical styles.
The concert concluded with prolonged applause and became a significant event in Almaty’s cultural life, demonstrating strong public interest in academic music and intl artistic cooperation.
At the conclusion of the event, a bouquet of flowers was presented as a gesture of respect and appreciation on behalf of Aida Balayeva, Deputy PM of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
