Event dedicated to Kazakh cinema successfully held in Washington
The Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Washington D.C. presented to the American public an exclusive screening of the Kazakh film and presentation of a book about the Kazakh Soviet cinema in one of the most prestigious cinemas in the city, El.kz cites MFA.
Representatives of the U.S. government, leading international think tanks, ambassadors and diplomats of foreign countries had the opportunity to get acquainted with the art and culture of Kazakhstan through cinema.
Welcoming the guests of the event, Ambassador of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Ashikbayev noted that symbiosis of the film and literature in the event is intended to demonstrate the western audience the rich cultural heritage of our people, as well as a high level of development of the Kazakh modern domestic film industry.
Prior to the film screening, Professor of Slavic Languages, Film Studies and International Relations of the George Washington University Peter Rollberg, who is widely known as a great expert in the field of Kazakh culture, literature and history, also addressed the audience. He made a significant contribution to the study and understanding of Kazakh literature and its historical context.
As part of the event, a unique book in English «Cinema of Soviet Kazakhstan 1925-1991» was launched which gives the reader a general idea of the evolution of Kazakh Soviet cinema and serves as a tribute to outstanding domestic filmmakers and actors.
In his speech, Professor Rollberg emphasized that the Kazakh film industry is experiencing a new boom, many good films are being made, a new generation of talented filmmakers is growing.
The second part of the event was devoted to the demonstration of the film «Paralympic» directed by Aldiyar Bayrakimov in Kazakh with the assistance of the State Center for the Support of National Cinema «Kazakh Cinema».
Sports drama made a big impression on the audience with a strong emotional load, brilliant acting and an exciting story about the resilience and strength of the human spirit of the Paralympic athletes of Kazakhstan.
