During a working trip to Brussels, the Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aida Balayeva met with Pedro Vargas David, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Euronews, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the department.

A significant event took place: the parties signed an agreement on the opening of a Euronews representative office for Central Asia in Astana.

Kazakhstan is carrying out large-scale transformations in all spheres of life of the state, playing a key role in the Central Asian region. That is why the fact of opening a representative office of Euronews in Astana is of great historical importance.

"For us, this is a truly great event that opens up incredible opportunities to re-present Kazakhstan to the world. Kazakhstan is not just a direct heir to the great nomadic civilization, which has a rich cultural and historical heritage, beautiful nature and wonderful people. Kazakhstan is a part of the modern world, where unprecedented changes are taking place today, based on the progressive ideas of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Kazakhstan is a state that is ready to share with the civilized world not only its unique spiritual and cultural heritage and socio-economic potential, but also to give its big heart and soul for the sake of peace. Therefore, I am very glad that the Euronews team will broadcast about Kazakhstan to the whole world from the very heart of our country - from beautiful Astana!" said Aida Balayeva at the meeting.

In the near future, the Euronews team plans to broadcast the Modern nomads TV show about the art, culture and lifestyle of the Kazakhs, the program "East-West Connection", covering business and economic events in the country, "Voices from Central Asia" - interviews with well-known figures in the region, a number of Focus reports covering major regional events and conducting training sessions and master classes to improve the skills of employees of the domestic media and press services.

"This is a very important step for both Kazakhstan and Euronews. I understand that from the Kazakh side, this is the first major international news player that is going to create a hub in Astana. And this shows how open the country is to the world. From the point of view of Euronews, this is our furthest expansion to the east.

Kazakhstan is the center of the Eurasian continent, and this demonstrates the strength of our presence not only in European countries, but also outside the continent. We are a channel that broadcasts to 1.2 bln people around the world, and a presence in Central Asia has been something we have wanted for a long time," said Pedro Vargas David, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Euronews.
