Erlan Koshanov has been elected Chairman of Kazakhstan Khalyk Kenesi
His candidacy was nominated by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, El.kz reports.
Kazakhstan Khalyk Kenesi has become the country’s new highest consultative body. The President approved its membership on September, 22 with the Council comprising 126 members representing different regions and areas of public life.
Born in 1962 in the Karaganda region Erlan Koshanov is graduated from the Karaganda Polytechnic Institute and the Kazakh State Academy of Management.
He held various positions in public administration, served as a member of the Senate, Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications, and Chairman of the Civil Aviation Committee.
From 2017 to 2019, Koshanov served as Governor of the Karaganda Region, after which headed the Presidential Administration. In February 2022, Koshanov was elected Chairman of the Mazhilis and held the position until the chamber ceased its work on July , 1, 2026.
