Eound table on theme: “The Tragic History of Kazakhstan in the XX century. Alash Orda Movement” held in Romania

The Embassy of Kazakhstan in Romania together with the National Institute for the Study of Totalitarianism of the Romanian Academy of Sciences organised a round table on the theme: “The Tragic History of Kazakhstan in the XX century, El.kz cites MFA.

Alash Orda Movement”. The event was attended by academics, scientists, as well as a wide range of representatives of the expert community of the host country.

Ambassador Yerlik Ali informed the participants of the round table in detail about the tragic events of the History of Kazakhstan in the XX century, about the life history of outstanding figures of this period A. Bukeikhanov, M. Dulatov, A. Baitursynov, M. Shokai and others. It is about the famine of 1931-1933 and political repressions of 1937-1938, the formation of the Kazakh government, scientific achievements of Sh. Ualikhanov, M. Auezov, K. Satpayev.

At the same time, the Ambassador noted the importance of holding such events, especially revealing the heritage of the Alash Orda to our youth and to the world.

In his turn, the Director of the National Institute for the Study of Totalitarianism Florin Abraham noted the importance of studying this historical period in the formation of Kazakhstan, as well as other post-Soviet countries with a common history.

During the roundtable discussion, the participants were interested in exploring the tragic fates of the leaders of the Alash Orda Movement and expressed interest in further study of this period of Kazakhstan's history. Historical analogies were made between the two countries from the time of totalitarianism.

As a conclusion of this event, the parties agreed on tight co-operation and exchange of experience in the further study of the history of Kazakhstan and Romania.
