Electric vehicle charging network grows in Almaty

The social entrepreneurship corporation "Almaty" allocated 311 land plots for the installation of electric charging stations, El.kz reports citing Almaty City Mayor's office.
Each station will be installed by domestic investors who have passed the competitive selection. One station will serve two parking spaces — thus, the city will have 622 new charging points for electric vehicles.
Electrocharging stations will be placed in high-traffic areas: near markets, cafes, parks, and public spaces. All facilities are planned to be put into operation by the end of 2025.
Currently, there are more than 300 charging stations operating in Almaty, but the demand for network development is increasing — as of April 1, 2025, there are 8,385 electric cars registered in the city, which is 50% more compared to the same period last year.
The project is being implemented as part of the "roadmap" for creating infrastructure for electric vehicles by 2029. The initiative aims to reduce emissions and improve the environmental situation in the country's largest metropolis.
