Elections of district akims are first experience for CA -State Counsellor Yerlan Karin
State Counsellor of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerlan Karin commented on the elections of akims of districts and cities of regional significance held for the first time in Kazakhstan, El.kz reports.
- The elections of rural akims have been held for 2 years (during this time about 1,700 rural akims have been elected). The elections aroused great interest in society. 125 candidates competed for 45 akim posts. Among them are the economists, lawyers, teachers, engineers, agricultural scientists, and others.
All 7 political parties nominated their candidates. At 1,497 polling stations, about 8,500 proxies of candidates, observers and media representatives carried out observation. The recent elections of district akims are the first such experience for Central Asia. Thus, the political reforms of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev set a new vector of political modernization in the region," Yerlan Karin wrote on his Telegram channel.
