An ECORace environmental campaign was held along the shoreline of Lake Balkhash in the Zhetysu Region, El.kz reports citing the Department of Internal Policy of the Zhetysu Region.
The event was organized as part of the nationwide Taza Qazakhstan environmental initiative.
Prior to the start of the campaign, participants were briefed on the route and the objectives of the event. They were provided with protective gloves and specially designated waste collection bags.
During the campaign, participants followed a designated route along the lakeshore and adjacent roadway, collecting litter along the way. The collected waste was then transported to a designated collection point for proper disposal.
As a result of the initiative, the areas along the roadway and the shoreline of Lake Balkhash were cleared of litter. According to the organizers, the campaign was aimed at fostering environmental awareness and promoting a culture of responsible stewardship of the natural environment.
According to Akerke Kyzaybai, Student Ombudsperson of the Alliance of Students of Kazakhstanfor the Zhetysu Region, environmental responsibility should become an integral part of everyday life rather than a one-time initiative. She noted that ECORace also contributes to maintaining the cleanliness of recreational areas while advancing the objectives of the Taza Kazakhstan national environmental campaign.
