Direct flights Between U.S. and Kazakhstan to launch in 2025

The Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan, together with the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the United States and the Embassy of the United States in the Republic of Kazakhstan, continue systematic work on the opening of direct flights between Kazakhstan and the United States,El.kz reports press service of the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

As part of this work, a technical review of the FAA International Safety Assessment (IASA) is being conducted from August 26 to August 30, 2024 to assess the activities of the aviation authorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan to ensure effective safety oversight in the country. The arrival of FAA specialists in Kazakhstan was preceded by the joint work of the aviation authorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the United States, the US Embassy in Kazakhstan and the FAA.

During the visit of experts from the United States, Vice Minister of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan Talgat Lastaev and Director General of the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan (AAK) Catalin Radu met with a delegation of the US Federal Aviation Administration.

FAA specialists will conduct a comprehensive analysis of the current state of the civil aviation system of Kazakhstan and provide recommendations for further improving the level of flight safety and compliance with international standards. During the visit, FAA auditors will assess the complexity of Kazakhstan's aviation industry and the safety oversight system. As part of the review, a technical visit to Air Astana is also planned.

It should be noted that the delivery of Boeing 787 Dreamliners to Kazakhstan is expected in 2025. After the successful completion of the FAA audit by Kazakhstan and the arrival of long-haul airliners, direct flights from Kazakhstan to the United States will be opened.

The aviation authorities of Kazakhstan will continue to actively cooperate with the US FAA on improving the level of flight safety and opening direct flights between the countries.
