The implementation of investment agreements and trade contracts signed during the December visit of the President of Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan was discussed by Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Serik Zhumangarin and Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjayev, El.kz cites the press service of the ministry.

The parties noted with satisfaction the progress of a number of projects. So, for the construction of a multimodal logistics center in the Tashkent region, a contract has been signed for the development of a feasibility study, and in early March it is planned to sign a contract for the development of design and estimate documentation. The first stage of the project implementation until 2026 provides for attracting investments in the amount of $ 70 million.

Another promising joint project is the creation of the international center for industrial cooperation «Central Asia» on the border between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. At the end of January, the parties previously agreed on the location of the International Center for Industrial Cooperation, the facility is supposed to be built in the area of the international checkpoints «Atameken» (Kazakhstan) and «Gulistan» (Uzbekistan). It is planned to consolidate the agreements in the near future.

«We will force the signing of an investment agreement. Serious interest in the project is expected», — Serik Zhumangarin addressed the participants of the first meeting of the Working Group on Monitoring the Implementation of Cooperative Projects and carrying out systematic work on import substitution.

The Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan told Uzbek partners about the construction of a similar trade and logistics hub on the border with Kyrgyzstan and invited investors and entrepreneurs from Uzbekistan to participate in this project. 

In turn, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjayev expressed interest in its joint implementation.

Also at the meeting, the parties approved the concept of creating a joint foreign trade company for the organization of system supplies of substituted products. The participants of the working group reviewed the implementation of cooperation and investment projects in the field of energy, transport, agriculture, electrical industry and mechanical engineering, infrastructure construction, pharmaceuticals, chemical industry. In the process of implementation, some of them required changes.

The next meeting of the Kazakh-Uzbek working group on monitoring the implementation of cooperation projects and carrying out systematic work on import substitution will be held in March this year in Shymkent.
