Delegation of Kazakhstan presented National Report to UN Committee on Rights of Persons with Disabilities
On March 4-5, the delegation of the Republic of Kazakhstan headed by Vice Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Nazgul Sagindykova defended the 1st National Report (hereinafter referred to as the Report) on the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities at the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Geneva, El.kz reports with reference to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The delegation also included: the Commissioner for the Rights of Socially Vulnerable Categories of the Population under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kenzhegul Seitzhan, deputies of the Senate and the Majilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, representatives of central government agencies, the Prosecutor General's Office, and the Judicial Administration.
During the event, the delegation of Kazakhstan provided detailed information on the policy pursued to fulfill obligations to implement all 33 articles of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities since its ratification by the republic. In particular, the UN Committee was informed about measures to improve the quality of life of citizens with disabilities, their social integration into society, access to justice, ensuring the accessibility of the environment, healthcare, education, cultural and sports facilities, inclusion, etc.
As part of the presentation of the Report, members of the UN Committee also considered issues on the topics of inclusion, non-discrimination and overcoming barriers to the full participation of people with disabilities in society on an equal basis with others. The delegates of Kazakhstan provided full answers and all the necessary statistical data for each set of questions.
