CYCLING COMPETITION ON THE HIGHWAY STARTED IN THE CAPITAL

The two-day republican cycling competitions on the highway started in the capital.

Open Cycling on the Highway Championship, dedicated to the 74th anniversary of the Victory in the Second World War "Remember, relish, proud” was started in the capital! The young men born in 2007 and younger are taking part in it.

Solemn opening of competitions with participation of more than 100 sportsmen took place today in Ilyinka settlement.

Yussup Keligov, Deputy Chairman of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan, congratulated the athletes on the opening of the Championship, noting that "this month is rich in events.

"On May 1, APK celebrated the Holiday of Kazakhstan People’s Unity, taking part in the environmental action. In the Botanical Garden of the capital 800 apple trees were planted.

It is very symbolic that the upcoming dates - Defender of the Fatherland Day and Victory Day are next to each other in our calendar. They clearly express the connection and continuity of generations, patriotism and courage. Our competitions are held under the slogan: "Remember, dear, proud! A low bow to the veterans who defended the world.

We don't need discord and conflict. And in this sense, sport is a great way to try your hand at it, to show yourself and feel friendly," Keligov said.

There are many worthy examples of successful athletes in all areas of sport in Kazakhstan. As for cycling, everyone is hearing the names of famous champions, Olympic champion of London and silver medalist of the Olympics in Sydney, Alexander Vinokurov, Asan Bazaev, world champion 2012, Alexey Lutsenko, two-time Asian champion Christina Titovskaya.

Last year, two gold medals of the III Youth Olympic Games of Yevgeny Fedorov and Gleb Brusensky were added to the collection of Kazakhstan's victories. "Kazakhstan's cyclists are leaders of the Asian continent and winners of the World Cup stages. The famous Astana cyclist has won more than 20 victories at prestigious international competitions since the beginning of the year.

These achievements testify to the fact that the state is doing a lot for the development of sport" said Deputy Chairman of APK, wishing the participants of the competition good luck and victory to the strongest.

It should be reminded that the competition is held in three disciplines - individual, group and group races - the criterion.

The closing ceremony of the competition and awarding the winners and medalists will be held on May 7 (bicycle lane in Ilyinka).
