President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev spoke at the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State, emphasizing the importance of cultural and humanitarian cooperation as well as the development of the creative economy within the Commonwealth, El.kz reports citing the Aqorda press service.

The Head of State noted that the cultural and humanitarian sphere has traditionally played a unifying role, stating that it “has always been a key link connecting our nations.”

In this context, Tokayev stressed the importance of supporting the development of creative industries, as they combine “tradition and innovation, historical heritage and modern technology.”

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev highlighted that Kazakhstan is already taking active steps in this direction. According to him, the added value of the country’s creative sector has exceeded $2 billion, and the industry employs 143,000 people.

The President underlined that creative industries not only generate significant economic impact but also serve as a tool of cultural diplomacy, strengthening friendship and good-neighborly relations among CIS member states.

“The potential of CIS countries in this field is immense. I propose establishing a Creative Industries Association under the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS. Its main mission could be to support young talents, implement joint projects, and develop a creative economy ecosystem,” Tokayev suggested.

Thus, Kazakhstan is initiating the creation of a new platform for cooperation in the field of creative industries, which could become a driver of innovation, cultural exchange, and economic growth across the CIS.
