Container hub in port of Aktau to strengthen international logistics

The construction of a new container hub in Aktau port is set to bring its capacity up to 240,000 TEU per year and  strengthen Kazakhstan's position in international logistics sphere, El.kz reports.

The container hub will increase transportation of containers in the Trans-Caspian direction through Azerbaijan, Georgia and Türkiye.

The new hub will re-direct some part of transit cargo coming from China to Europe increasing the volume of container traffic through the region.

Dredging works are also planned to improve the efficiency of the port, which will make its terminal capacity more competitive and attractive to international carriers.

These measures will strengthen Kazakhstan's role as a key transport hub in Eurasia.
