Construction of seismic stations for early warning completed in Almaty

By the end of 2023, the construction of 28 seismic stations for the automated early warning system (AEWS) has been successfully completed in Almaty. The construction order was carried out on behalf of the city's Department of Emergency Situations, El.kz reports.

The project was implemented in several stages: 11 seismic stations were built in 2022, and another 17 in 2023. At the moment, the system has been put into trial operation and is at the stage of approbation and testing, which is in line with international experience in this area.

It is expected that the testing period of the system will last until the end of the first half of this year. This step is significant in strengthening measures to ensure the safety of Almaty residents in the event of earthquakes and other seismic events.
