The feasibility study for Kazakhstan’s first nuclear power plant may be completed by December 2025, Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar announced, El.kz reports.
According to Roman Sklyar, the final cost of the project will be determined only after the feasibility study is completed.
— “The preliminary estimate for the construction of the plant is $14 billion. However, this will not be a burden on the state budget,” he emphasized.
Sklyar noted that the project will be implemented on a commercial basis. No government subsidies are planned.
In addition, the authorities are considering involving Kazakhstani companies in the construction of the facility — particularly in supplying equipment and construction materials.
