Construction of gold recovery plant discussed in East Kazakhstan
Public hearings on the construction of a gold recovery plant in the village of Maraldy are held regularly. Last time, about 150 people took part in the event, 19 of them were officially registered in accordance with legal rules, El.kz reports with reference to yk-news.kz.
The participation of every citizen in the environmental decision-making process is very important. At the hearings, comments and suggestions are collected. Each time, the organizers collected 30-40 proposals from the villagers, which contributed to a better revision and improvement of the project. Nevertheless, it should be noted that public hearings are not a procedure for coordination with the population or obtaining a permit. Therefore, there is no doubt about the legitimacy of the hearings: they are held in strict accordance with the law and in a fairly constructive manner.
The launch of the factory in Maraldy will have a significant impact on the dynamics of socio-economic development not only for the village and the district, but also for the region as a whole. Thus, the management of the factory undertakes a number of social obligations, including the training of all graduates of the Maralda rural district in the specialties chosen by them in universities or colleges. Among the support measures that have already been taken by the company are the repair of schools and hospitals, the provision of housing for people with disabilities, and the purchase of coal. It is important to note that the launch of the enterprise guarantees the creation of new jobs with competitive salaries. And most importantly, the attraction of investments in the extractive industry will give an impetus to the dynamic development of remote border areas of East Kazakhstan region.

Therefore, there is no reason to suspend the construction of the factory. This thesis was confirmed by the Vice Ministers of Ecology and Natural Resources, Industry and Construction, who, during a working trip to East Kazakhstan region, visited Maraldy, where they discussed all problematic issues with the population.
The entire process of environmental studies was carried out with the participation of representatives of the local population, which emphasizes the transparency and validity of the measures taken.
