Conditions for real party competition created in a less than year - Yerlan Karin
The prerequisites for the current elections were laid in March 2022, when the President in his Address proposed a program of cardinal political reforms. In less than a year, conditions were created for real party competition, citizens had the opportunity to independently nominate for elections to the Parliament and Maslikhats. State Counselor Yerlan Karin wrote about this in his telegram channel, El.kz reports.
"All seven political parties are taking part in the parliamentary elections, two of which were registered after amendments to the party legislation. Therefore, it is party competition that is a key element of the current election campaign.
In total, 892 candidates were nominated to the Mazhilis on party lists and single-mandate constituencies (an average of 9 candidates per 1 mandate). The participation of such a large number of public figures and civil activists (including those who usually speak from critical positions) speaks of confidence and support for the ongoing course of reforms," he wrote.
The State Counsellor noted that the high public support for all the changes taking place in the country, all innovations and reforms of the authorities is confirmed by sociological data.
"According to the latest survey of the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies, 71.7% of Kazakhstanis believe that the country is moving in the right direction," he concluded.
