Competition among chefs from SCO countries held in Almaty
Almaty Food Fest international gastronomic festival has ended in Almaty. A culinary competition was held among Chefs from eight nations, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the festival.
The main goal of the event is to promote the tourism potential of the city, and the organizer is the Department of Tourism of Almaty.
A panel discussion was also held as part of Almaty Food Fest 2024. Improving the quality of education, introducing a variety of training programs and advanced training courses for chefs and cooks, as well as the use of local products and ingredients can be the keys to the successful development of the entire culinary industry.
Among the participants in the discussion were representatives of the prestigious French culinary school «Ecole Lenotre», chefs, managers and heads of the restaurant business, representatives of the media, as well as teachers and students of culinary colleges and universities in the specialties "Restaurant and hotel business".
As noted above, for the first time within the framework of the event, a culinary competition was held, bringing together chefs from eight SCO member states, including: Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Belarus.
- Kazakhstan and China have centuries-old relations. Since the time of the Great Silk Road, there has been a cultural and economic exchange between our countries. It is a great honor for us to take part in the international gastronomic festival. We are pleased to present our national dishes and introduce them to the guests of the event," said Chinese Consul General in Almaty, Jiang Wei.
Guests of the event took part in competitions, raffles, master classes, enjoy culinary shows and musical performances.
The event is an important step towards the recognition of Almaty in the international gastronomic arena, as well as a course towards attracting such prestigious ratings as Michelin and TheWorld's 50 Best Restaurants & Bars to the city.
