The British actor, director, founder of the global project Peace One Day Jeremy Gilly spoke at the panel session "Ethics of Peace" of the first Central Asian Media Forum in Astana, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Information and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In his speech, he spoke about why the issue of peace and ongoing conflicts between countries became the center of his research.

"I've always wanted to make a film about people and ask them the questions I'm interested in. I started my journey in 1989. My friends and I went on an adventure and decided to make a film about all the UN countries. After years of traveling, we realized that there was not a single day of peace. In 2001, the world adopted a ceasefire resolution. September 11th was a tragic day. But we know that in dark moments we seek power. I hear the cynicism when they say you can't climb a mountain. You can climb the mountain," Jeremy Gilley said.

The speaker believes that all of us is responsible for creating a peaceful sustainable society.

"95% of the cruelty that's happening now is happening in our homes, schools, communities and places of work. Therefore, these are the primary places where peace must begin. We all play a role in creating a sustainable society. Using media and digital tools, we can see amazing things. We can create a place that inspires new achievements. The media plays a big role in this. Your pen is a sword," the guest concluded.
