Comic Con Astana 2025 kicks off in Astana — the largest pop culture festival in Central Asia and CIS countries.
Comic Con Astana 2025, a major international pop culture festival and the largest of its kind in Central Asia and the CIS, has officially opened in Astana. the event will take place from July 9 to 13 and is expected to gather more than 75,000 fans of comics, cinema, video games, and cosplay — including over 10,000 international guests, El.kz reports citing the festival’s press service.
Comic Con Astana has become a key event in the creative industry, bringing together fans from across Kazakhstan and beyond. The format is inspired by major global conventions such as Comic Con San Diego, New York, and Dubai.
“Comic Con Astana is all about people, new encounters, and the energy of creativity. Each year, the festival grows and opens up to the world — with new zones, new formats, international stars, and more guests from different countries coming to Kazakhstan’s capital to become part of the community. We want every visitor to find inspiration and like-minded people here.
The festival is also a way to introduce the wider public to modern youth culture and help parents better understand their children’s interests. We especially love seeing entire families attend, with older generations supporting their loved ones and becoming part of this grand show,” Natalya Abrashkina, general producer of Comic Con Astana said.
The festival will host the premiere of La Tregua (“The Truce”) — the first Kazakhstan-Spain co-production made for global theatrical release and streaming on Netflix. The film focuses on the tragic history of the KarLag labor camp.
Director Miguel Ángel Vivas(Money Heist) and producer Emilio A. Pina (Goya Awards) will attend the presentation.
The festival runs until July 13 and promises to be one of the most spectacular events of the summer in the capital.
