Chinese tech giant Tencent launched a new artificial intelligence model, Hy4, with safeguards aimed at reducing the risk of its misuse in cyberattacks and potentially harmful biological research, El.kz cites Anadolu.
The Shenzhen-based company, best known for developing the popular messaging app WeChat, said the model was trained using cybersecurity data focused on defensive tasks, such as identifying and fixing software vulnerabilities, while excluding material related to offensive exploitation.
Tencent said security assessments conducted by its internal research teams found no significant concerns about the model's ability to assist in cyberattacks in the areas tested.
The company also said Hy4 demonstrated strong knowledge of biology but had more limited capabilities in designing open-ended experiments compared with some of the most advanced AI models.
Beyond its safety features, Hy4 can analyze images, interpret complex charts, write computer code and perform tasks using software interfaces, according to Tencent.
The company said the model is already available through several of its cloud and workplace applications, with plans to release its underlying model weights and technical documentation in the coming days.
Hy4 is the latest addition to Tencent's growing AI portfolio, following the release of a preview version in August. The company said the new model offers improved performance in areas including financial analysis, scientific research and software development.
