Chinese scientists to help Kazakhstan create forest at bottom of Aral Sea
Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerlan Nysanbayev held a joint meeting with scientists of the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences on the creation of artificial forest, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the ministry.
During the discussion, the issues of planting forests on the drained bottom of the Aral Sea (hereinafter referred to as ODAM) were considered to reduce the negative impact on the ecology of the region.
The Minister noted the importance of strengthening mutual cooperation on the exchange of experience in scientific research on forest reproduction with scientists of the People's Republic of China, given that China is the world record holder for the size of artificial forest plantations.
- It was proposed to create a joint Kazakh-Chinese center to address environmental issues on the dried bottom of the Aral Sea. For a more detailed acquaintance with the work carried out at ODAM, Chinese scientists went to the Kyzylorda region, the press service reports.
