Chinese cars to produce in Kazakhstan
At a meeting of the Majilis, the Minister of Industry and Construction of Kazakhstan, Kanat Sharlapayev, announced the start of producing of some models of Chinese cars in the country, El.kz reports.
The minister stressed that domestic automakers have committed to increasing the share of CKD to 50% by 2027. It is planned to reach 20% this year, 30% next year, and 40% by 2026.
Sharlapayev also announced the launch of a project to build a multi-brand plant for the production of Chinese cars. The capacity of the plant will be 90 thousand cars per year, and the cost of the project is estimated at 182 billion tenge.
It is also planned to open enterprises for the production of plastic components and multimedia systems for cars.
By the 2027, the new plant plans to produce about 200 thousand cars using the SKD method.
In addition, SaryarkaAvtoProm LLP will begin production of cars of the Chinese brand Jetour this year. Negotiations are also underway with the Czech company Skoda. The minister added that the Astana Motors group of companies has attracted such well-known Chinese brands as Changan, Cherry, Haval to organize a production line, which is scheduled to be launched by 2025.
