China invests in environmental projects in Kazakhstan

A strategic agreement has been signed in the Chinese city of Shenzhen between the NAO "International Center for Green Technologies and Investment Projects" and the China-Eurasian Business Council (CEBC). The cooperation aims to attract investments from the PRC into projects for the ecological modernization of Kazakhstan, El.kz reports citing the press service of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The document provides for the transfer of green technologies, the implementation of sustainable solutions, and the realization of pilot initiatives in the territory of Kazakhstan. At the investment B2B forum organized by CEBC, the Kazakh side - International Center for Green Technologies and Investment Projects and 'Zhasyl damu' - presented a number of promising startups in the field of eco-technologies. Particular attention was drawn to the OzenM project, developed within the framework of the GCIP Kazakhstan program. This is an intelligent platform for environmental monitoring, intended for installation at hydroposts.

The Chinese company Lihero has expressed its willingness to cooperate. Discussions are planned to implement technology at more than 1000 hydroposts in Kazakhstan in the near future," the message states.

Additionally, Vladimir Oleshchenko presented the concept of constructing 100 autonomous eco-villages according to BREED and LEED standards. The project covers 600 hectares of scenic areas in Kazakhstan. A preliminary agreement has already been signed with Chinese investors for $600 million.

"Eco-villages will be completely energy-independent — equipped with solar panels, rainwater collection systems, greenhouse farming, and the potential for passive income for residents," noted the ministry.

On the same day, the delegation from the Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Protection and 'Zhasyl Damu' visited the world's largest incineration plant in Guangzhou. Kazakh enterprises presented technologies for the recycling of solid household, oil-containing, and rubber-containing waste. The Chinese side expressed interest in studying technical documentation and business plans.
