Chairman of Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan meets with Head of OSCE Programme Office in Astana
On September 13, Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan N.M. Abdirov met with the Head of the OSCE Programme Office in Astana, Dr. Volker Frobart, El.kz reports.
During the meeting, the head of the CEC noted the close cooperation between the organizations and stressed that regular meetings with the leadership and representatives of the OSCE have become a good practice. Nurlan Abdirov also drew attention to the recently published final reports of the OSCE ODIHR Observation Mission on the early elections of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan on November 20, 2022 and the early elections of deputies of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan on March 19, 2023.
The Head of the OSCE Programme Office in Astana was informed about the upcoming direct elections of akims of districts and cities of regional significance, which will be held in a pilot mode, elections of deputies of maslikhats instead of those who retired, as well as elections of rural akims in the republic that have been going on since July 25, 2021.
In addition, the parties discussed a number of issues in the context of preparations for the International Scientific and Practical Conference on the topic "Constitutional Reform and Electoral System", dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the CEC of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
During the meeting, F. Frobarth noted the OSCE's high appreciation of its cooperation with the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan and confirmed its readiness to continue interaction and exchange of experience on electoral issues.
