The results of the counted ballots suggest that Ilham Aliyev was elected president of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Azerbaijan Mazahir Panahov said at a briefing for media representatives, Report informs.
“The elections were held at a high level. The people of Azerbaijan exercised their sovereign right and elected their president from 7 candidates. According to preliminary results, Ilham Aliyev won the majority of votes. Counting the remaining ballots will not affect the results,” the CEC Chairman said.
According to him, only a few polling stations did not provide data.
“Starting tomorrow, we will begin to accept protocols from district election commissions, according to which the final vote count will be carried out. The election results will be announced on February 9.”
After consideration and discussion, the protocols will be sent by the Central Election Commission for approval to the Constitutional Court no later than February 17.
