Canadian experts discuss ongoing reforms in Kazakhstan

The Embassy of Kazakhstan in Canada jointly with the Canadian think tank “Macdonald-Laurier Institute” (“MLI”) held a roundtable discussion entitled: “Exploring Opportunities for Canada in Central Asia”, El.kz cites MFA.

The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Parliament of Canada, “think tanks” leading experts – “Canadian International Council”, “Carleton University”, “Canadian Global Affairs Institute”, “Institute for Peace & Diplomacy”, “Caspian Policy Center”, as well as members of academic community.

Addressing the audience, Ambassador of Kazakhstan Dauletbek Kussainov introduced participants with the major achievements of political and socio-economic transformations undertaken in our country. The Kazakh diplomat informed on the outcomes of the third session of the National Kurultay with the participation of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, which focused on the topical issues concerned the Kazakh society.

International experts highly appreciated the ongoing political reforms in Kazakhstan, in particular the efforts of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev aimed at the development of political and socio-economic processes in the country.

The Canadian side emphasized the key messages of the program article of the President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, as well as the initiatives outlined in the Address “Economic Course of Just Kazakhstan”, aimed at fundamental transformation of the political system, social protection of population, investment attraction and stimulating Kazakhstan's economy.

Profound interest had been generated from discussions on the prospects for the development of investment, trade and economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and the countries of the North American continent, including the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.

Overall, the Canadian side pointed out the serious potential in the development of Kazakh-Canadian relations, including such sectors as mining, renewable energy, critical minerals, livestock, education, environmental protection and development of artificial intelligence.

Following the results of the round table the parties agreed to hold such meetings on a regular basis.
