The main stage of construction of a bridge across the Pikhtovka River on the road leading to the Rakhmanovskie Klyuchi has been completed in the East Kazakhstan Region. The structure reaches a height of up to 45 metres, El.kz reports citing JSC NC KazAvtoZhol.
The bridge has been constructed in mountainous terrain, where challenging topography has long constrained transport connectivity. Following the installation of the final bridge span, the two sides of the deep gorge have now been fully connected.
Bridge as high as a multi-storey building
The new bridge is 175 metres long. Its maximum height above the surrounding terrain is approximately equivalent to that of a 15-storey building.
The structure comprises seven spans, each 24 metres long. The main construction works have already been completed, and specialists are now proceeding with the final fit-out and site works.
The bridge is supported by eight piers, including two abutments and six intermediate piers. All supports have been fully constructed, and the final span has been installed in its designated position.
