Border Service of Kazakh National Security Committee seized 63 seals caught by poachers
In April, Border Service of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan detained 3,186 offenders, including 38 foreigners who tried to cross the border illegally, El.kz reports .
Particular attention was paid to the problem of poaching in the Caspian Sea, where 120 facts of illegal activity were suppressed. As a result of the operations, 244.6 km of nets, 54 swimming equipment , as well as six tons of sturgeon and 61 tons of particulate fish species were seized.
In addition, border guards seized 63 seals with total weight of one ton. Information is not provided on whether the seals were alive at the time of seizure.
The total damage prevented by the operations of the border service is estimated at 2.3 billion tenge. All materials on the identified cases were sent to the judicial and police authorities for further prosecution of the offenders.
