Indian filmmakers have shown interest in Kazakhstan’s picturesque tourist locations. Filming of the first joint project is expected to begin next year. The main locations may include the steppes and mountainous areas of the Almaty region, which are renowned for their unique nature and landscapes, El.kz reports.

At the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Media Tourism Ambassador of Kazakhstan Award-winning International Film Producer presented the country as a promising destination for foreign filmmakers. During the presentation, directors, studio representatives, and government officials were introduced to key tourist locations that could serve as attractive venues for the film industry.

“We are actively negotiating with foreign filmmakers to attract major international projects to Kazakhstan. Indian producers and studios have expressed interest in the country and are considering filming both feature and documentary films here. For our first project, a location scouting has already been conducted in Almaty, steppe and mountain locations have been selected, and the formation of a team of local specialists has begun. This will allow us to promote our tourism potential through cinema and will become an important step in the development of bilateral creative cooperation,” Nadira Akhonova said.

The new film will showcase Kazakhstan’s tourism potential to audiences in India and around the world. The movie will touch on themes of identity, cultural interaction, and human values.

Filming this international project will also contribute to promoting Kazakhstan as an attractive creative hub.
