The bodies of two servicemen who had previously been reported missing have been found in the waters of the Caspian Sea. The search and rescue operation has been completed, El.kz reports citing the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
On September, at 25 approximately 09:15 p.m the bodies of Sergeant Mansur Gumarov and Seaman Miras Turdybekuly were found during the ongoing search and rescue operation.
The tragedy occurred while the servicemen were carrying out a training and combat mission following a sudden and severe deterioration in weather conditions. Seventeen servicemen were swept out to sea, three of whom were rescued.
“The leadership and personnel of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan extend their deepest and most sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased servicemen. The families of the deceased will receive all necessary comprehensive, financial and psychological assistance,” the Ministry of Defence said in a statement.
The search operation in the waters of the Caspian Sea has been completed.
