Bloomberg has included the city of Almaty in the list of the25 best tourist destinations in the world to visit in 2026, El.kz reports citingKazakh Tourism.

Bloomberg emphasizes the steady growth of Almaty’s tourist appeal and its year-round nature: a dynamic urban culture, rich historical heritage, gastronomy, and proximity to natural landscapes.
 «Creative energy is bubbling in the steppes of Central Asia. The popularity of the country’s largest city is growing: in the first nine months of 2025, a record 2.5 million people visited it. Some came to admire relics such as the gold-domed Zenkov Cathedral and the labyrinth of stalls at the Green Bazaar, where spices, honey, and horsemeat sausages are sold. Others headed for alpine lakes and ski slopes in the Zailiysky Alatau mountains, which rise just beyond the city’s concrete development», -the publication notes.

Bloomberg also separately highlights the seasonal diversity of recreation in Almaty. During the winter period, tourists are recommended to visit the mountain slopes of Shymbulak.
